If you don’t cover it – what will the school holidays be, and will they be more in line with the other schools.

My son is asking what the school dinners will be like? What are the prices of meals and how would the children pay for them, ie cash, prepay card?

    • Martin Said

      Good morning Clare

In the first year it is likely that the food will be cooked off-site and brought into school each day. This happened in our first year in Doncaster too, and we used the Local Authority – with the food being prepared in a local primary school. They were delicious!

When it’s clear how the temporary site will be configured we’ll update you as soon as we can on how we’ll be preparing food each day.

In our Doncaster schools, school meals are priced at £2.50 per student which is the price that the school pays to Doncaster Schools Catering. This is charged at cost, with no profit to the school, through ParentPay so there is no need for students to carry cash or cards. We’d expect something similar in Gateshead.

Even though you are selecting students at random, will you ensure that there is an even split of boys and girls?

    Many thanks

    • Martin Said

Good morning Alys. Since it is random selection we do not put anything in place to ensure that there is an even split. However since we are drawing a large number of places at random – just like tossing a coin multiple times – it does tend to even out through that process. So there isn’t really a need to put anything in place.

Have you appointed a board of Governor’s?
If you have, can you describe the appointment process.
    Thank you

On the consultation you mentioned we would find out on the 21st if a place has been given, we will also find out on the 21st if we haven’t been successful? Thanks

    • Martin Said

Good morning Alexa, due to the number of applicants we will not contact families that have not been successful. We will email all successful applicants on the 21st May.
