XP Gateshead

This morning we took the most exciting step in our journey as a school so far, and began contacting families to offer them places for Year 7 in 2021.

If you have been successful in your application you will have received an email from us this morning. We are contacting parents by phone today too to confirm these offers.

If you have not received an email, this means that – at the moment – your application has not been successful.

However, it may be the case that some families decline their offer. If this does happen we will use our randomly ordered list to make new offers. We will do this as soon as we possibly can, if a family does decline their offer.

When we have confirmed that 50 places have been accepted we will update our website again.

The admissions deadline has now passed. Any applications received after midday today, Thursday 20th May 2021, are late applications.

Tomorrow morning we will begin to contact families that have been successful in their application for Year in 2021.

Our consultation period has now ended and our admissions policy has been approved by our directors. This can be found here.

IMPORTANT: If you have previously filled in an expression of interest and wish to proceed with your application, there is nothing that you need to do. We will take the relevant details from your expression of interest forwards to become a formal application. You should have received an email from us. EVENT 2: Families of children in Year 5 and Year 6

This event will take place live on Youtube. You will be able to ask questions through the chat function throughout the evening. To register your interest in joining this family event, please complete this Google Form. There is also an opportunity to provide questions in advance on the Google Form.

This event will be specifically of interest for parents that are interested in a place at XP Gateshead for their son or daughter. During this event we will be able to give further details of our timeline for admissions and when we will offer place to your children for Year 7 in 2021.

XP Gateshead is a new, mainstream secondary school opening in August 2021. We will begin with 50 students, 4 teachers and 3 Learning Coaches. 

We are recruiting a learning coach to help us start a school – a genuine once in a lifetime opportunity.

We are particularly interested in Learning Coach applicants with experience of classroom support in a primary or secondary setting.

We are delighted to be able to announce more details of our online consultation events. These are an opportunity for us to update you on our progress towards opening, and for you to ask questions of us before the consultation closes.

Both consultation events will take place online on Tuesday 4th May.

At 4.30pm – 5.15pm on Tuesday 4th May we will host an event for wider stakeholders and interested parties such as local residents, educators, business leaders etc. To register your interest in joining this wider stakeholder event, please complete this Google Form. The XP School Trust is recruiting members for our founding Local Governing Committee to offer support and challenge to help us deliver our vision for XP Gateshead.

We are particularly interested in recruiting members with the personal attributes, knowledge, and skills found in this competency framework for governance.

As many of you will know, we have been approved to move into the pre-opening stage and are now consulting with you to get your views on our proposal to open XP Gateshead in September 2021.

Draft versions of our policies for XP Gateshead, our trust policies and indicative policies from our existing secondary schools have now been added to our consultation page on this website.

If you have not, or someone you know has not yet already filled in the consultation form, please do so.

Your views are really important to us and will assist us in making the case to the Secretary of State to enter into a funding agreement with us. This is the final major step in the process of our application to opening the school and will give confirmation that the school will open in September 2021.

We will have more details in the next week about two further online consultation events.

The first event will be for families. During this event we will be able to give further details of our timeline for admissions and when we will offer place to children for September 2021.

The second event will be for wider stakeholders and interested parties.

The support and overwhelmingly positive messages we have received so far have been gratefully received.
